How Ali Kay Keeps it Real

Ask any guy what he likes in a girl, and chances are that a good number of them will always go for the girl next door. She’s smart, she’s pretty, and she has enough of a fun streak that she can still keep up with the boys. Best of all, she possesses that poised yet down-to-earth aura that makes her a blast to be around.

One would be hard-pressed to find this kind of girl in the glitz and glamour of the fashion world. This makes Ali Kay quite a rare find indeed. Born Alison Parker Kay, this dynamic young brunette grew up in sunny Miami. She was a Political Science major at the prestigious Columbia University, finishing with a Bachelor’s degree in 2006. That same year she met future business partner Anne des Barres, then an intern for the renowned Diane von Furstenberg Studio. The two girls shared a passion for simple but stylish clothes; a passion that would later grow into one of the fashion world’s most hailed new success stories.

Together, Ali Kay and Anne des Barres founded Keep Me, a clothing company which singlehandedly put a fresh new spin on ladies’ loungewear. The Keep Me line offers a range of garments perfectly suited for the fashion-forward woman on the go. It specializes in all soft and chic essentials such as tees, tank tops, leggings, nighties, active wear, robes, and lingerie. Keep Me’s pieces are all built with both timeless style and maximum comfort in mind, and can easily go from day to night in a flash. Best of all, Keep Me collections are all-American and all-natural, designed by Kay and des Barres using soft and luxurious materials such as cotton, cashmere and modal.

When she’s not heading the Keep Me Malibu headquarters, Ali Kay is keeping busy with her many interests. Kay likes to stay fit with basketball, hiking, water sports and yoga. In keeping with her brand’s fashion philosophy, Kay believes in a natural, uncomplicated approach to beauty, prioritizing diet and exercise. Makeup and cosmetics are kept to a bare minimum, with nothing but the most basic of skin regimens to complement Kay’s laidback beach life.

While subverting the typical notions of the girly-girl, Ali Kay made her auspicious modeling debut in 2009 as the new face of the Diane Von Furstenberg brand. Industry insiders would not stop raving about the way she channels a young DVF in her hit ad campaigns.
